Reconciliation

What is Reconciliation?

Reconciliation, also known as the Sacrament of Penance or Confession, is a sacrament of healing. Reconciliation enables us to receive God's unconditional love and forgiveness.

“…Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” - Jn 20:19-23

*Eligibility - Candidates must be baptised Catholic and be seven years of age or older. Reconciliation is usually the next sacrament following Baptism.

Preparation

The Sacrament of First Reconciliation is a Parish based coordinated program. This approach acknowledges the important role of parents and families in the whole preparation process as parents are the first educators of children in their faith. The Parish Sacramental Team, St Patrick's Primary School staff, Catechists and the parish community support families during the program. In this partnership, the spiritual development of a child can be nourished and grown. We hope that families enjoy the family-centred Sacramental Program and experience a warm sense of belonging. If you have any enquiries regarding the program, please do not hesitate to contact the parish office.
